Oklahoma City Thunder rookie Chet Holmgren responded to the comments made by Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic, after Denver’s big win over OKC on Sunday afternoon.

On Monday, Holmgren was asked of Jokic’s take that he should get fatter.

“It’s hard to get fatter when you’re not fat,” Holmgren laughed. “Got to start somewhere, I guess. But, obviously, I haven’t played in the NBA before so there’s going to be a lot of learning happening and it’s going to be night-to-night.”

Nikola Jokic had his way with Chet Holmgren in Denver Nuggets’ win

Jokic looked dominant in Denver’s win over the Thunder on Sunday. There was nothing that the young Holmgren could do to stop him, as he posted 28 points, 14 rebounds, and 5 assists on an efficient 12-of-16 shooting.

After the win, The Joker had some advice for the rookie, as well as some praise about his talent.

“He’s a really talented guy, but this is his first year. He’s still learning everything: the game, how quick it is, where is (he at) an advantage, where is (he at) a disadvantage,” Jokic said (h/t Bennett Durando). “I think he needs experience. I think he needs to be a little bit fatter, to be honest. But yes, he has a talent that is unique.”

Holmgren wasn’t half bad on the offensive end. He finished the day with 19 points on  7-of-12 shooting for the Thunder. However, his inability to defend the reigning NBA Finals MVP resulted in his game-low plus/minus of -23.
