5 Trades to fill Denver Nuggets’ biggest hole
By Tyler Watts
3. Nuggets reunite with old friend
Torrey Craig went undrafted in 2014 and played three years in Australia before getting his first crack in the NBA with the Nuggets. The 6’7 wing spent three years in Denver, including playing 20 minutes per game in the playoffs during their run to the conference finals inside the bubble.
Craig left in free agency in the 2020 offseason and has played for four different teams over the last four years.
Could he return to the Mile High City before the deadline? The 6’7 wing currently plays for the Chicago Bulls, who are already shopping their star talent. Craig figures to be on the move before the deadline, and the Nuggets would certainly welcome his size and veteran presence.
Justin Holiday has played 17 total minutes in the first ten games. He is not part of the Nuggets’ plans, and Craig is certainly an upgrade. Denver cannot expect too much, but the 6’7 wing guards multiple positions and can sink open jumpers. Craig is likely best in ten to 15 minutes per game in the playoffs, which would mean Christin Braun or Payton Watson needs to be ready for key postseason playing time.
Denver would love to add someone that they count on for a larger role, but they may not have the assets to make that type of move. Torrey Craig will certainly be in their price range.
