All offseason it’s been nothing but negativity towards the Nuggets from the media, players, coaches, executives, and fans alike. Everyone is taking turns dumping on the team, disrespecting them, and providing bulletin board material.

It’s gotten ridiculous at this point with the amount of people taking shots and writing off the 2023 champs. Last I checked, this team still has Nikola Jokic and still has most of their championship core. Sure, there are question marks, but that’s true of every contender, outside of maybe the Celtics.

Everyone is quick to crown teams like the Thunder and Timberwolves, but we haven’t actually seen them do it. That’s not the case in Denver. We have seen what happens when this team reaches their ceiling and there’s no reason they can’t do that again this season - despite what the national media seems to think.

But there is at least one believer out there as Jason Timpf, the host of Hoops Tonight has become the hero of Nuggets Nation. The podcaster for The Volume made his predictions for the season and he has picked the Nuggets to win the Western Conference.

Jason Timpf picks Nuggets to win Western Conference

In his argument, Timpf made a lot of great points that most people seem to have forgotten are are willfully ignoring. He pointed out that everything went wrong for the Nuggets last year; they were worse in just about every possible category and yet, they were up by 20 points in the second half of game 7 against the Timberwolves.

In a worst-case scenario type of season, the team was still one bad half away from being favored in the Western Conference. If that’s their floor, then with just a slightly better season they should be right back in the mix to reach the finals.

Timpf also pointed out that the team’s floor remains so high thanks to Jokic and his current level of dominance. By this logic, the Nuggets should be relatively safe and if they can come close to hitting their ceiling, they should be in great shape.

I love Timpf’s logic and reasoning here. It’s great to hear someone being level-headed and not overreacting to the offseason. The Nuggets are steady and have a lot of continuity with their main players and coaching staff. They still have the best player in the world by a wide margin. Everybody just take a deep breath. Things are going to be fine in Denver.
