Jamal Murray went nuclear on Wednesday night, erupting for 52 points in one of the most efficient performances of all time, hitting 19-25 shots and 10-11 threes. But the cherry on top was that in the midst of his heater, Murray busted out his legendary Blue Arrow celebration, which he hasn’t done in a game since 2020.

Fans have been begging to see his patented celebration for years, and were starting to think it was gone for good. He has teased it on occasion and busted it out on opening night in 2023 during the ring ceremony, but this was the first sighting during a game in over five years.
It’s a special moment for longtime fans of the Nuggets who have been following Murray’s career for years. The young, flashy, flamboyant guard who was hopping around, celebrating big shots, has been battered by injuries, expectations, and pressure.
So to see him bust out this celly means he must have really been feeling himself, and must feel healthy and confident in his body. He’s playing loose, and off ot the best start to a season of his career, and it shows. His feeling good enough to let the Blue Arrow fly just made this the perfect night for fans.
Murray’s Blue Arrow celebration a culmination of his hot start
Wednesday night’s showing by Jamal was incredible, but it really captures everything he’s been doing this season. He has gotten a lot of flak for coming into camp out of shape or injured, starting seasons slowly, and needing to play his way into shape.
Whenever Jamal has been available and playing at an elite level, the Nuggets have been nearly unstoppable. Unfortunately, we have only seen that on rare occasions and for short stretches. But this season, so far, things have been different.
Murray came into camp healthy and in great shape. He worked hard over the offseason, and it’s paying off as he is off to an amazing start to the season, putting up career-high numbers across the board with 24.7 points, 6.6 assists, and 4.6 rebounds, and 3.3 made threes per game on 50.3% shooting and 46.2% three-point shooting.
He has been great, and it has helped the Nuggets get off to a 15-6 start even despite some injuries to key players. The 52-point explosion was a joy to watch, and I’m not sure how any fan could watch him go crazy on the court, happily bust out his old celebration, and not feel immense joy. Here’s to hoping Jamal can keep the good vibes going all season and beyond.
