Fan voting for the 2026 All-Star Game began last week, and as a Denver Nuggets fan reading this, you should've already voted several times for Nikola Jokić and Jamal Murray. If you haven't, here's your reminder that it's free to create an NBA ID to do so. It's a given that Jokić will represent the team in Los Angeles, but his good friend Jamal should join him in February.
Murray is averaging a career-high 24.8 points, 6.7 assists, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game, shooting 49.6% from the field and 45.5% from three. It's, by far, the best that he has played in the first couple of months of the season.
Everyone knows by now that Murray is notorious for his slow starts, but when the playoffs roll around, you don't want to go up against him. Just ask the Lakers.
He didn't spend the offseason rehabbing from an injury, and it's shown. Murray worked on his conditioning over the summer, and he arrived at training camp with a level of energy he had lacked in recent years. At media day, Murray said he was focused on having a "great November," and he did just that.
He's having a great December, too. He's done more than enough to earn his first All-Star nod at 28 years old.
Jamal Murray should be an All-Star this season for the Nuggets
At this stage in Murray's career, he's already done something that several players haven't — won a championship. He has reached the mountaintop, so how much does an All-Star recognition really matter? Well, it'd be a cool thing to check off his list.
The All-Star Game itself is an embarrassment of sorts, but it's special to get to spend a weekend with top talent around the league. Murray has won a title, but he still hasn't always received the recognition he deserves. It'd be special for him and fans to see that happen.
Murray better not be a snub this year. The fan vote counts for 50 percent, the players count for 25 percent, and the media count for 25 percent. The fan vote can go any which way, but players and the media should recognize that Murray has been one of the best guards in the West this season. The numbers don't lie.
Be sure to do your part to help Murray get to Los Angeles in February, as he's already done his part.
