The Denver Nuggets are searching for a solution to the Peyton Watson saga. Recent rumors have indicated that they want some draft capital back in return in a potential sign-and-trade. Well, based on the way Michael Porter Jr. is trying to recruit him to the Brooklyn Nets, they could very well get some.

“He boutta sign for $130 million. I’m tryna get him in Brooklyn, though,” Porter said in a video captured by a fan. Watson was sitting right by him when he made the comment. Obviously, that sounds like Watson could just end up re-signing in Denver, but if the Nets actually wanted to make a move, they have plenty of draft picks to include in a trade.

So, if the Nuggets actually wanted to send Watson out for draft picks, perhaps MPJ’s recruitment could help make that happen.

Nets could do Peyton Watson sign-and-trade, which would make sense for Nuggets

Watson is a promising young 3-and-D forward who has the potential to blossom into more. It’s no coincidence that the Nuggets want so much in return in a sign-and-trade. Watson can play.

However, Denver is pressed up against the apron, and bringing Watson back at a number he wants would be brutal for their financial situation. Thus, a sign-and-trade could make some sense.

He may just end up re-signing with the Nuggets, and they could trade someone like Aaron Gordon, Cameron Johnson, or Christian Braun to make room. But in the meantime, exploring sign-and-trade opportunities makes sense.

Enter the Nets. They have nothing to lose. It may be tricky for them to match salary in a deal, but they could get a third team involved. The draft picks, on the other hand, wouldn’t be a problem.

If MPJ really wants to bring Watson to the Nets, they could make it happen. They have a bunch of draft picks from the Mikal Bridges trade, so there’s no shortage of options.

Plus, the Nets are in a full-on rebuild right now, so adding a young talent like Watson could be good for them. Why not take a bet on his potential at a position of particular value?

In a trade, the Nets would get a guy they can develop moving forward, and the Nuggets would get to load up on some draft picks to help them make a future move.

It would make sense for both teams, although it may be a bit unlikely. However, maybe there’s a chance Porter could help end the Watson saga by recruiting him to Brooklyn.
