There has long been drama between Nikola Jokic, Marcus and Markieff Morris, and the Joker’s two brothers, Strajinha and Nemanja. The beef started years back in a game between the Heat and Nuggets when Markieff committed a hard foul on the Joker, prompting Nikola to chase him down and body him, in a bit of a cheap shot.
Morris suffered a neck injury and missed an extended period of time. Things bubbled into an off-court situation as the twins weren’t pleased about it, but it ended there for Jokic, with his brothers getting involved instead.
Some barbs were exchanged, but nothing came from it. Still, the Morris twins can’t seem to let it die as they’ve brought it up in multiple public appearances. Most recently, on their podcast, the Morris Code Show, the twins were asked in their chat who would win in a fight, them against the Jokic brothers.
Marcus and Markieff almost seemed to scoff at the idea, saying it would be a “landslide” and implying that the Jokic brothers are fat and “can’t move”. Markieff explained how people think the Jokic boys are big and bad, but don’t seem to realize that he himself is 6’10”, 280, and as he put it, “actually athletic”.
Jokic bros vs. Morris twins would be fight for the ages
The twins were pretty disrespectful of the Jokic brothers overall, and it will be interesting to see if there is any response. The Jokic brothers will likely take the high road as they aren’t looking for attention and have no desire to cause any unnecessary distractions for Nikola.
But hypothetically speaking, in this day and age of big-money celebrity fighting, this would be a matchup for the ages. Maybe someday, down the road, when Nikola is happily retired back in Serbia and out of the limelight, we can make this fight a reality and settle the score once and for all.
The Jokic brothers have some MMA training and experience, while Marcus and Markieff seem intent on boxing. There would have to be some kind of rules laid down, but this would be some elite entertainment.
Let’s hope that the powers that be can find a way to make this happen, and Nuggets nation can rally behind the Jokic brothers. They’ve always felt like part of the team in a lot of ways, but this would truly be their chance to go to war for all of Nuggets Nation.
