The 24th annual NBA GM survey was released on Thursday, and the results weren’t exactly shocking, with plenty of recognition for Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets. But one interesting question asked which player forces coaches to make the most adjustments, with Jokic dominating, earning more than half of the votes.
Out of the 30 GMs, 17 voted for Jokic, good for 57%, while no other player received more than 6 votes. Giannis Antetokounmpo came in second place with 17% of the votes, Steph Curry was third with 13%, Luka Doncic received 10%, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander got one vote as well.
Last season, Luka was the top answer to this question, receiving 33% of all votes, but clearly, a lot has changed in a year. Now, a majority of NBA GMs have seen the light and realized that Jokic is actually the biggest game-wrecker in the league, forcing coaches to adjust more than any other player.
Jokic dominates in a variety of ways
It shouldn’t come as a big surprise, as Jokic has won three of the last five MVP awards and is widely regarded as the best player in the league. Still, there’s a difference between pure domination and having the versatility to make teams adjust.
That’s the beauty of Jokic; he can beat teams any way he wants. When teams play off of him, he proved last season that he can hit threes all night long. If teams try to double him, he’ll carve them up with his passing. When teams try to guard him straight up, he can just bully them inside repeatedly.
Jokic has an answer for everything, and that’s what makes him unstoppable. He may not have one clear facet of his game that jumps out like Shaq’s strength or Hakeem’s footwork, but he’s exceptional at just about every element of the game, at least on the offensive end.
Jokic wins multiple other votes
Along with taking home the vote for making coaches adjust, Jokic also received the most votes for 2026 MVP, best passer in the NBA, best international player, best center, and best basketball IQ.
On top of that, the Nuggets were also voted the most fun team to watch - tied with the Thunder - which is a direct reflection of the Joker. He also factored into several other categories, as did the Nuggets. As if there was any doubt, the NBA world is fully recognizing the greatness of JOkic, and this NBA survey is just the latest proof.
