The new docuseries on Netflix, Court of Gold offers an incredible inside look at the 2024 Paris Olympics through the lens of four basketball teams; USA, Canada, France, and Serbia. Team USA and Team France, of course, met in a classic Gold Medal game that was ultimately won by the Americans and that got much of the attention.
But don’t sleep on the Serbian team and some of the amazing behind-the-scenes footage of players like Nikola Jokic, Bogdan Bogdanovic, and others. Even Nuggets fans rarely get to see this side of the Joker, which shows locker room footage of him chewing out teammates and offers a glimpse of his true competitive spirit.

Perhaps the highlight of the entire series came in the final episode after Serbia had overcome their heartbreaking loss to the USA and defeated the Germans to bring home a bronze medal. The pride and joy emanating from the players and coaches is palpable, including showering Jokic with water in the locker room.
But the real fun began after the game when the team started their celebration. In an iconic interview for the documentary, Bogey described the scene as the Serbians wanting to be “historically drunk”.

Jokic may be as good at drinking as basketball
The scenes that follow are some of the rawest you’ll see, showing Jokic and his Serbian brethren consuming every drop of alcohol in sight, laughing, singing, and celebrating like there’s no tomorrow. It’s hilarious, but also emotional as you can get a real sense of how much this achievement meant to those men and their country.
The whole documentary is excellent and worth watching, but these scenes stole the show. More hysterics ensue after the victorious USA team emerges and greets the Serbians as all the players prepare for the medal ceremonies.
The Serbians are all still drunk, prompting Kevin Durant to ask, “[Have] y’all been drinking all day?” leading to another iconic moment as Anthony Edwards attempts to heap praise on a totally wasted Jokic.

Still, the funniest moment of all may have been when the Serbians apparently finally ran out of alcohol, much to the chagrin of Jokic. He is seen pleading with a Serbian assistant coach to find Steve Kerr, assuring him that Kerr will somehow have beer.
Jokić telling his fellow Serbian to find Steve Kerr for the beer is possibly my favorite part in Court of Gold 😂 pic.twitter.com/uCy2fTIVHH

Parts of the documentary are pretty heavy and it’s an awesome look at how hard these players and coaches work and everything that goes into the Olympics and makes it the worldwide event that it is. But it’s also nice to see the lighter side and the pure childish joy as they are able to celebrate a legendary accomplishment for their home country.
AND THEY WERE HISTORICALLY DRUNK
