Nikola Jokic is having a historic season. He's leading the NBA in assists and rebounds, something no player has ever done across any season, let alone the same season. And he's done something over the Nuggets' 10-game winning streak that no other player in NBA history has done. Not Wilt, not MJ, not Kareem. It's a wild stat that only the best basketball player in the world could have produced.
Over the Nuggets' 10-game winning streak, Joker had more points, more rebounds, and more assists than any other player has ever had over a 10-game span. There are over 1.4 million samples to choose from. And Jokic is at the top of the mountain, standing alone.
Jokic has scored 252 points, snagged 145 rebounds, and dished 127 assists over the Nuggets' last 10 games. Nobody has done that. Nobody is as all-around as Joker. He is a true one-of-a-kind.
Jokic could set a new personal triple-double record
Entering Denver's 81st game, Jokic is currently tied for a career-high with 34 triple-doubles across the 2025-26 season. The 34 from last year came in 70 games played. Jokic has only appeared in 64 games this year. He's getting more triple-doubles than he ever has before, and one more against the OKC Thunder or the San Antonio Spurs would give him his new best.
The last 10 games have propelled Jokic toward his new career-high. Joker has seven triple-doubles over the last 10 games, and he now stands only 11 triple-doubles behind Westbrook for the career mark. Westbrook has 209 to Jokic's 198.
The Nuggets have climbed the standings, helping Jokic's MVP case
At the start of the winning streak, the Nuggets were battling for the fourth seed in the Western Conference playoff standings. Now, they have leapfrogged the LA Lakers, who are without their top two scoring options, including the NBA's leading scorer, Luka Doncic.
The Lakers' woes opened the door for the Nuggets, who now control their own destiny. If the Nuggets win both of their remaining games against the Thunder and the Spurs, they'll clinch the third seed. The Nuggets do not own the tiebreaker against the Lakers and need to finish a full game ahead of them on the final day.
Winning was one of the top reasons Jokic had been buried in third or fourth in the MVP race. The current streak and the jump to third should help his case.
The Nuggets are getting a boost in their chances, too. The Thunder have announced that their entire starting rotation will be sitting out of the game due to load management. The Nuggets will be playing the Thunder's reserves, who may even try to lose.
The Thunder are playing for nothing, but if they lose, the Nuggets have a better chance of staying on the other side of the playoff bracket until the Western Conference Finals.
