The Nuggets were on cloud nine after their improbable win on Monday night in Philadelphia without half of their roster and their entire starting lineup. So naturally, in the year 2026, some of the players rushed to social media to post about it. But almost as improbable as the win was the platform, when Spencer Jones took to LinkedIn and ripped off an emotional post that started with, “Some games you’ll remember for the rest of your life”.
On a recent episode of the Old Man and the Three, appearing with the host and his teammate, Cam Johnson, Jones talked about how he is active on LinkedIn. And sure enough, after one of the biggest moments of his life, Jones went viral on the professional social network that’s generally used for career-building and networking.
And perhaps, Jones has felt the need to stay active on that site, considering the 24-year-old is a young professional, still trying to build his career. Jones went undrafted and has only been signed to two-way contracts, mostly playing in the G-League and working to crack an NBA roster.
But that’s all changing this season as Jones was inserted into the Denver rotation surprisingly early in the season, mostly thanks to his size and defense. As players started going down with injuries, Jones’ role continued to grow, and he’s now been starting for the past 21 games. Frankly, the team would be in rough shape without his contributions.
Everything seemed to come together on Monday night in what almost felt like a scene out of a sports movie, too sappy and dramatic to be believed. But the Nuggets entered the game, as Jones put it, “Shorthanded by seven players. No starters available. With lineup made up almost entirely of guys who began their careers in the G League.”
Nuggets absolutely must sign Jones to NBA roster
He kept going, building the story in his post, “We were on the road against a top team in the Eastern Conference with multiple NBA stars. Everything about it was unlikely, including my defensive matchup against a near 300-pound center.”
And Jones tied it all together, pulling at the heartstrings of Nuggets fans, getting a little mushy by finishing, “But nights like this remind you what eams are really built on. Effort carries. Belief compounds. And when everyone commits to the same goal, logic stops mattering… Love this team!”
It’s a little sappy and bordering on corny, but it’s so innocent and pure that it’s impossible not to hate it. Sure, it was just a regular-season game, but that one was special. These players earned that moment, and hopefully, it becomes a moment that the team rallies around going forward.
Furthermore, this is yet another reminder that Jones’ contract absolutely needs to be converted, and he needs the final NBA roster spot. He has been one of the team’s most valuable players this season, and an absolute steal on a two-way. They need to give him a standard, full-time contract and lock him up for several years before it’s too late.
