There have been quite a few changes to the Denver Nuggets this offseason, and not just on the sidelines or to the bench. The Nuggets even made changes to the broadcast team on Altitude Sports, and Nuggets games are going to have a completely new sound, for better or worse depending on what side of the fence you fall on when fans tune in for Nuggets games during the 2026-27 season.

Fans received word in June that the only broadcast duo they had known for the past 21 years on their regional network, Altitude Sports, would be replaced. Chris Marlowe and Scott Hastings are out, and they'll be replaced by Noah Reed as the new play-by-play caller and Katy Winge as the new color analyst. Former NBA great and three-time Slam Dunk champion Jason Richardson (J-Rich) will replace the outgoing Chris Dempsey as the studio analyst.
The change is welcomed by some, not by others
For some fans, it's a welcome change. Marlowe had grown stale with some of his phrases and sayings. Some thought he sometimes missed big opportunities to add even more to the broadcast in exciting situations. But without Marlowe, we don't have the "Sombor Shuffle," Nikola Jokic's step-back fadeaway jumper. We wouldn't have the "Murray Flurry." For those of us who enjoyed the flair Marlowe had, he'll be missed.
I, for one, am really going to miss Scott Hastings. He was like an extension of a fan as a broadcaster. It's like he never left the locker room after his Nuggets playing days ended in 1992-93. Many fans had grown tired of Hastings, too, but who can't laugh at one of his best moments, asking JaMychal Green if he was going to play before a game? Who else goes straight to the source?
The beginning of a new era and sound
Most of us are familiar with Winge. She's been on Altitude in various roles since 2018, and most recently served as the broadcast's sideline reporter. She's filled in a few times for Hastings over the years, and she'll be the third female analyst among regional NBA broadcast networks. Winge knows her Nuggets and should provide plenty of good analysis.
Reed is new to the network, but you may have heard him calling college football and basketball games for ESPN and NBC/Peacock, as well as Fox Sports in 2025. However, this will be his first foray into the NBA, and he'll need to get up to speed on the Nuggets.
It will definitely be a different experience sound-wise tuning into Nuggets games on Altitude, but fans will adjust. Even if some aren't on board with the move.
