The 10 greatest Nuggets in history, ranked by Player Efficiency Rating (PER)
By Ben Handler
8. Allen Iverson - 19.8 PER
The Answer was one of the greatest and most beloved players to ever lace ‘em up and step on the hardwood. Pound for pound, many believe he was one of the best of all time, as he was just 6 feet tall and 165 pounds.
The dynamic scorer was incredible with the ball in his hands and helped define his era of NBA basketball. His ability to beat people off the dribble, get to the hoop, and score from the midrange was second to none.
AI averaged 25.6 points and 7.1 assists per game in his time with the Nuggets, but his PER is dampened by inefficiency. He was tasked with creating so much offense and taking so many difficult, contested shots, that his shooting percentages suffered.
On top of that, Iverson was only with the team for one full season, played in just 135 games with the franchise, and when he got to Denver his best years were already behind him. Still, he was a spectacle to see when he played alongside Carmelo Anthony but was never able to get out of the first round of the playoffs with the team.
Although his time in Denver was brief, he left a lasting impact. Despite his smaller stature, he was truly a giant among men.
