4. Alex English - 20.9 PER

Alex was a late second-round pick in the 1976 NBA draft and bounced around the league for a few years before being traded to the Nuggets in what would become one of the most lucrative deals in franchise history.

English, a 6’8” forward spent an entire decade in Denver playing for the Nuggets and averaged over 20 points per game for 10 straight seasons. That includes the 1982-83 seasons when English led the NBA in scoring with 28.3 points a game.

He made eight All-Star Games and three All-NBA teams, all with the Nuggets, and was inducted into the Naismith Hall of Fame in 1997. He led Denver to the playoffs in nine straight years and helped them reach the Western Conference Finals in 1985. His number 2 jersey is also retired by the team.

While with the Nuggets, English averaged 25.9 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game. When he left the team in 1990 as a free agent, he was the franchise’s all-time leader in points, assists, games played, minutes played, and several other statistical categories.

Carmelo is the only former Nugget in the NBA’s all-time top 10 for points scored, but English is 22nd in league history and he scored more of his points with the Nuggets.
