3 Things Nuggets fans should root for, 2 to root against to close season
By Ben Handler
Throughout March, and now into April, the NBA has gone absolutely nuts. It’s hard to keep track of what players are in, which ones are out, who’s tanking, who’s competing for what. It’s almost impossible to gauge a team’s motivation on any given night. We’re seeing bizarre results left and right and we’re seeing that on full display with the Nuggets.
Denver played their best basketball of the season coming out of the All-Star break, racing out to a 15-2 mark, and climbing to the top of the Western Conference standings. But since then, the Nuggets have lost three of their last five in uninspiring fashion.
Nikola Jokic has been consistently excellent and he’s all but sewn up the MVP award, but little else has been reliable. But the biggest concern for the team by far is the injury to Jamal Murray which has sidelined the star guard for the last six games.
Through this bit of turmoil, the teams around the Nuggets in the standings have been dealing with issues of their own, and dropping games left and right. Denver actually still controls their own destiny for the one seed with five games remaining.
There’s a lot going on but here’s what you should be rooting for and against over the last week of the NBA regular season.
