2.) Christian Braun

It sounds crazy to say that Christian Braun would be untouchable in trade talks. And at the end of the day, he wouldn’t actually be untouchable. If the Nuggets are on the cusp of a blockbuster trade to improve the roster in a meaningful way and the sticking point is Braun, I sure as hell hope the organization would offer him without hesitating.

But at the same time, this front office has invested a ton into the young players and recent draft picks. They’ve staked the future on the success and development of late first and early second-round picks in the past few years and at least so far, it hasn’t really paid off.

The only success story to date has been Braun. If there is a prize from this recent crop of draft picks it would have to be Braun and the organization surely wants to keep him around and develop him further.

Braun has proven he can play in the NBA Finals as a rookie and was solid in the 2024 playoffs as well in some tough environments. He’s still on a cheap rookie deal and is set to enter the starting lineup this season in place of KCP.

The Nuggets are hoping he takes a big step forward this season and if they have to make a trade with young players, and although it wouldn’t be easy, surely they’d sooner offer up the less proven Watson, Strawther, or Holmes.
