3 most untouchable Denver Nuggets in offseason trade talks
By Ben Handler
1.) Nikola Jokic
Well, this is about as clear and obvious as it gets. Nikola Jokic is the Denver Nuggets. He’s not only the most untouchable player on the team, he’s the most untouchable player in the history of the franchise, and the most untouchable player in the NBA right now.
If a team calls to enquire about trading for Jokic, the Nuggets are hanging up the phone. There is just no circumstance where the team would consider trading the 29-year-old three-time NBA MVP. Even a “fair” offer - which would have to include someone like Victor Wembanyama - would be rebuffed because Jokic means too much to the organization.
He needs to retire a Denver Nugget. It’s plain and simple. There’s no world where he can leave. Even if the situation becomes so dire that the smartest move would be to blow it up and trade Jokic to the highest bidder, that would be a blasphemous move and one that would surely evoke years of bad karma.
This list isn’t a list of three untouchable players, it’s a list based on degrees of untouchability. There are no truly untouchable players. Except for Nikola Jokic.
