2.) Zeke Nnaji
Trading Nnaji is a no-brainer as long as the Nuggets can find a taker. His contract is nothing crazy, but four years and $32 million for someone who won’t even be in the rotation is a lot. Moving him for someone who can actually contribute would be a huge win.
He’s still just 23 and has shown some promise in years past, so it’s not crazy to think a rebuilding team in need of some frontcourt help would be willing to give Nnaji a second chance. A change of scenery may be good for Zeke and may help extend his NBA career.
There are certainly teams out there with veteran players on similar contracts who would be better suited to invest in a youth movement and take a swing on more of a prospect. A Nnaji for Vailije Micic trade with the Hornets has been floated around and it makes a lot of sense for both sides.
If I had to bet on one Nuggets player being traded this year regardless of circumstances, I’d bet on Nnaji. I think the team would jump at the opportunity to get off of his contract. If they can bring back a role player who can crack the rotation, that’s a dream scenario.
