9 Former Denver Nuggets that the team can re-sign this summer

The Nuggets need to retool this offseason but have limited means to improve. Perhaps it's time to look at some familiar old faces and see if some reunions make sense.

1.) Mason Plumlee

The Nuggets haven’t had a reliable backup center since Plums left in 2020. He’s been a solid backup big for the Clippers and appears to have something left at age 34. He would be an ideal big man coming off the bench who provides energy, defense, and rebounding.

He should be able to keep lineups afloat while Jokic sits and would offer a solid pick-and-roll partner for Murray (or anyone running bench units). The Clippers have their own financial issues and they’re likely unwilling to splurge on a backup big man.

Plumlee would have a clear and important role in Denver and even in limited minutes, he could make a huge impact. Just keeping the Nuggets from suffering while Jokic sits would be a massive improvement and could make a huge difference, especially in the playoffs.

He’s a reliable veteran who would be a great locker-room guy and already knows the system. Malone would happily trust Plumlee, and it would be great to have a true backup center again. If he’s open to a reunion, this is a no-brainer for the Nuggets. This is a realistic target; not one that would send shockwaves through the NBA landscape, but one that could make a major impact when all is said and done.
