9 Former Denver Nuggets that the team can re-sign this summer

The Nuggets need to retool this offseason but have limited means to improve. Perhaps it's time to look at some familiar old faces and see if some reunions make sense.

7.) Torrey Craig

There’s nothing sexy about Torrey Craig but he’s just a rock solid professional veteran role player. He’s not elite at anything, but he’s solid at everything. He provides size on the wing, he can guard, he’s reliable with the ball, and he can hit open shots. He doesn’t do any of these things at a particularly high level, but he could be an 8th or 9th man in Denver.

The Nuggets’ slew of bench wings are mostly young and unproven or inconsistent. If Craig has anything left in the tank he’d at least offer an alternative to that, and Michael Malone has shown a strong preference for proven veterans.

Craig could conceivably be a Justin Holiday replacement of sorts and could pretty easily slide into almost any lineup. It’s not crazy to think he could crack the playoff rotation and could help this team in multiple ways.

It’s unclear if Craig at 33 years old is washed up, but in Denver, he’d be able to play limited minutes and focus on fitting in. He has shot over 39% from three-point land in back-to-back years and he would feast on open looks in the Nuggets offense. As long as he can still guard, he would be a really valuable addition.
