9 Former Denver Nuggets that the team can re-sign this summer

The Nuggets need to retool this offseason but have limited means to improve. Perhaps it's time to look at some familiar old faces and see if some reunions make sense.

5.) Jeff Green

Here’s a name that should be very familiar to all Nuggets, regardless of how poor their memory may be. Green, of course, was a key contributor on the championship team last season but left for Houston in free agency. The Rockets have a team option but they’re a young team loaded with potential and talent.

They could easily choose to let Green hit the open market. Even at this late stage of his career, Green could help lots of contending teams and would surely have options to choose from. But the Nuggets can sell him on familiarity and nostalgia.

It’s not inconceivable to think he’d welcome a return to Denver and a chance to reclaim his old role and bring the bench back to glory. Green would immediately step back into a major bench role and would vastly improve the team’s chances of winning another ring.

Green can play inside and out and still packs some defensive punch with scoring ability. He can hit some threes, beat guys off the bounce, and will bust out a big dunk once in a while. We all saw what a great veteran Green can be and his presence was greatly missed this season. Bringing him back would be an excellent move for the Nuggets if they can make it work.
