9 Former Denver Nuggets that the team can re-sign this summer

The Nuggets need to retool this offseason but have limited means to improve. Perhaps it's time to look at some familiar old faces and see if some reunions make sense.

3.) Isaiah Hartenstein

This is the most unrealistic name on the list as Hartenstein has been amazing for the Knicks and surely earned a contract that the Nuggets won’t be able to afford. But crazy things happen every year in NBA free agency and we’ve seen instances of cap space drying up and players overplaying their hands and being left without a deal.

While a long shot, this would be incredible for the Nuggets. Hartenstein is overqualified to be a backup center and would be an elite addition to the Denver frontcourt. The team infamously gave up on Hartenstein, trading him away for JaVale McGee several years ago. That deal turned into a disaster quickly and the Nuggets are still paying for that mistake.

Backup center is one of the biggest needs for the Nuggets and Hartenstein would solve all of their problems and then some. The Nuggets would probably have to move several pieces around to be able to make a reasonable offer, but if they can somehow land Hartenstein, they’d be able to boast the best frontcourt in the entire NBA.

This move would turn one of their biggest weaknesses into a strength and the Nuggets would have at least one very good big man on the court at all times. It’s not at all likely, but we can dare to dream.
