Apparently Nuggets fans are cornballs for rooting for Nikola Jokic and Serbia

Nikola Jokic is a Denver Nuggets legend. The writing was on the wall when he was drafted during a Taco Bell commercial. What's more legendary than that? Everyone should've known that he'd rack up three NBA MVPs and an NBA Finals MVP. He's not done yet.

Nuggets fans have a special appreciation and respect for Serbia because it's Jokic's home. He led Denver to its first-ever championship. When he retires and leaves Denver for Serbia, there should be a Jokic statue outside Ball Arena. What he's meant to the city and state can't be put into words.

Believe it or not, it's not unusual for American Nuggets fans to root for Jokic in the 2024 Paris Olympics. How could they not want their franchise player to do well? Watching Jokic and Serbia nearly defeat Team USA in the Olympic semifinal on Thursday was wild. It seemed like the Serbians would pull off an epic upset, but they didn't have enough gas in the tank.

If you're a Nuggets fan in the United States who wanted Jokic to do well but for Team USA to win, the result played in your favor. When the buzzer sounded, Nuggets fans gave Jokic and Serbia their flowers for a far more competitive game than anticipated, which was apparently the wrong thing to do.

Kevin Durant calls Nuggets fans cornballs for supporting Nikola Jokic and Serbia

In the early Paris morning hours on Friday, Kevin Durant was on X (Twitter). He came across a tweet from SwipaCam, one of the main voices on Nuggets Twitter. Durant questioned SwipaCam's loyalty.

Another user replied to Durant's tweet, which prompted the Suns star to refer to Nuggets fans as cornballs.

Durant's tweet prompted a series of tweets from others who questioned why American Nuggets fans would root for Serbia over the United States. Chances are that some of you reading this fit that description, but plenty of Nuggets fans were pro-Jokic and pro-America. SwipaCam fits that description.

If you're mad at Durant for his tweet, don't take him seriously. He's not only a professional basketball player but also a professional troller and hater. He's committed to the bit. KD said that most players are in "awe" of Jokic's "brilliance." Nuggets fans can't argue with that.

Oh, and Denver fans don't just believe that Jokic is the best player in the world. He is the best player in the world. You don't have to "worship" him to know that.
