The 2024 Paris Summer Olympic Games officially kicked off on Friday with a spectacular aquatic opening ceremony and that means 16 days of wall-to-wall sports. One of those sports, of course, is basketball where multiple Denver Nuggets will be in action representing their countries.

The first to take the floor will be Jamal Murray for Team Canada on Saturday. Canada will be in action at 1 PM MDT against Team Greece for their first game of group play. The Canadians have the better team on paper and should be able to win, but the Greeks have Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Team Canada loaded with NBA talent

Along with Murray, Canada boasts several other NBA players including Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Dillon Brooks, Kelly Olynyk, RJ Barrett, Lu Dort, Andrew Nembhard, and others. The team represents a “golden age” for Canadian basketball and should be the team’s best chance to medal in nearly a century.

For Murray, it’s his first action in a non-exhibition game since the Nuggets’ disappointing game 7 collapse against the Timberwolves in the second round of the Western Conference playoffs. Murray played well in that game but had a rough series overall.

He was battling a litany of lower-body injuries and never really looked like himself out there during the whole playoff stretch. He had a couple of game-winning shots in round one against the Lakers, but otherwise, his performance was far below his usual playoff standards.

But all reports out of Team Canada are that Murray has been ramping up and looking good, and should be ready for a full minutes load during the Olympics. It should be an excellent tournament with weeks of outstanding basketball action.

How to watch Canada vs Greece Olympic basketball

The game can be seen everywhere exclusively on the NBC family of networks and the Peacock App. The other two teams in Canada’s group, Spain and Australia faced off earlier on Saturday with the Aussies winning 92-80.

Nikola Jokic, the other Nugget in Paris, will lead Team Serbia into action on Sunday when they take on Team USA in their first game of Olympic group play.
