The Denver Nuggets are in New York to take on the Brooklyn Nets Friday. Ahead of the matchup at Barclays Center, Nuggets star Nikola Jokic got out and took advantage of being in the Empire State.

He just did it in an unusual way.

Instead of going out and exploring The Big Apple, the big man made his way to Yonkers to enjoy one of his other passions, Horse Racing. The official Yonkers Raceway social media account shared photos of the big man stopping by for some races.

"We had a special guest join us tonight," the post read. "Thanks to Nikola Jokic of the (Denver Nuggets) for coming out tonight! Nikola has a huge passion for racing and we're thrilled he decided to join us!"

Nikola Jokic's love of horses featured in hilarious commercial

Jokic made waves this summer after horses were at the top of his mind despite winning Denver's first-ever NBA championship. After the Nuggets took down the Miami Heat in five games, The Joker was focused on getting home so he could spend time with his horses in Serbia.

The internet loved Jokic's apathetic response to climbing to the top of the NBA's apex. All offseason clips went viral of him enjoying time at his local racetrack back at home. He even brought Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon along to enjoy some races with him.

Hotels.com took advantage of the craze and featured the reigning Finals MVP in some of their commercials for the NBA's Christmas Day slate of games.

One of the ads shows Jokic and Nuggets teammate Peyton Watson strolling the lobby of a hotel. Along with them is a pony that is more than welcome at the pet-friendly hotel. Watson is concerned about the animal, but Jokic assures him that pets are allowed on site.
