1 dream quote we wish to hear from every Denver Nugget at media day

Why can't they just say what we want them to say?

Michael Porter Jr.: “Trade this”

I’m sure players do their best to drown out all of the noise and they can say they don’t hear it, but I think we all know that’s not true. Players are young kids for the most part. These guys are chronically online, and if they’re not, their friends and family members are.

They can try all they like to block it out, but they know what’s being said. You can bet that MPJ has heard all of the talk all offseason and that has included a lot of trade rumors and speculation. Many have said that trading MPJ is the one move the Nuggets can and maybe even should make.

He’s heard that he’s overpaid, that his contract is killing the team, that he’s not a good enough defender, that he hasn’t developed as a playmaker, and everything else the naysayers have shouted. Surely he knows what the discourse is like and he knows the reality of the situation; if he doesn’t perform, he could be on the trade block.

This could go a number of ways, but hopefully, Porter Jr. uses this as motivation. He was dealing with a number of horrible tragedies in his family life during the playoffs and it seemed like it finally got to him.

What we want to hear from MPJ is that the distractions are behind him, that he’s heard all the noise, and that he’s ready to come in and prove the haters wrong by having the best year of his career. If he can do that, the Nuggets will be in a great spot.
