Nikola Jokic: “I want to retire a Nugget”

When it comes to Jokic, this is really all that matters. We’ve heard and seen everything we need from him. We know what we are getting and we couldn’t ask for more. The only thing we don’t really know is how he actually feels about the direction of the franchise and the roster moves they have made in recent years.

He seems like the last guy to cause drama, but still, it would be great to hear Jokic come in and declare his loyalty to the team and the city. Even if it’s just a platitude, it would be a great gesture and would improve the vibes going into the season.

There’s currently no doubt about his status with the team and he’s locked into a long-term contract for years to come. There is no reason to think he would want to leave town, but at the same time, his prime years are numbered and the team hasn’t exactly gone all in to improve around him. 

We’ve seen stars get disgruntled quickly and if things start slowly, there is always the risk that he starts to assess his situation and get a wandering eye. Again, this is a nightmare scenario and there’s no reason to currently expect it. But it would still be nice just to hear those words come out of his mouth.
