March Madness: Picking the Final Four teams
By Ben Handler
South Region: #3 Kentucky
This is a classic case of just trusting the talent here. Kentucky has been up and down this season and had their struggles before playing some of their best ball down the stretch. They got bounced in the SEC Tournament early, but that may give them a chance to get some extra practice and rest.
The Wildcats, like usual, are loaded with NBA talent with the likes of Rob Dillingham, Reed Sheppard, and Justin Edwards. The former two guards have even received lottery buzz, and some mock drafts have even pegged Sheppard as the top pick.
Top-seeded Houston will have their say, as they’ve had an amazing season, but they just got blown away in the Big 12 Championship Game. Marquette has had a great season as well, but one of their top player, Tyler Kolek has serious health concerns.
Picking Kentucky is a leap of faith here, as they’ve looked bad at times, and could be prone to an upset with a young core of players. But they have the best players, and if they can turn it on and get hot, they’re as likely to make a run as anyone.
