Multiple Nuggets players seen hanging with LeBron: King James to Denver?
By Ben Handler
Since the NFL’s Rams moved to Los Angeles and started playing in SoFi Stadium, they built up somewhat of a celebrity following in the LA area. They still don’t have the best fanbase in sports, but their location and recent success of the team plus enticing opponents have made Rams games a place to be.
The proximity to LA makes these games a no-brainer for the rich and famous; it’s not quite courtside at a Lakers game, but it’s getting there. So it was no surprise on Sunday, to see lots of stars at what turned out to be a really good game against a popular nearby rival in the San Francisco 49ers.
Peyton Watson and Michael Porter Jr. rubbing elbows with LeBron James
But what was surprising was some of the company being kept by these stars. A trio of Nuggets players were at the game in Russell Westbrook, Michael Porter Jr., and Peyton Watson. What turned heads was Watson posting on social media a picture of him, Porter Jr., and LeBron James hanging out together at the game with the caption “3 killas”.
This post quickly led to hopeful speculation about LeBron being friends with Nuggets players and that leading him to leave LA and team up with Nikola Jokic to chase rings in Denver. Career-wise, this could be a good move for James, and allow him the best chance at the most rings.
Sadly, if I remove the tinfoil hat and take a more fair and balanced look at the bigger picture (no pun intended), this type of speculation is a waste of time. The dots are easy enough to connect, and none of them lead to LeBron in a Nuggets uniform.
The Kroenke family owns both the Nuggets and the Rams (as well as several other professional sports teams). They seem to have hosted some Nuggets players in their box for the game. LeBron lives and plays in LA and this isn’t the first game he has attended.
NBA players know each other and will surely mingle, plus LeBron and Westbrook go way back. This seems like nothing more than a convenient photo-op among a few guys who happen to have a lot in common. LeBron isn’t leaving LA any time soon and if he does, I highly doubt it’s to play in Denver.
