Nikola Jokic fans are in for a major treat as Mike Singer, the 2021 Colorado Sportswriter of the Year announced on Thursday that he has been writing a book on Jokic titled, “Why So Serious? The untold story of NBA champion Nikola Jokic”. The book is scheduled to release this fall, but is available for preorder now.

Mike Singer on the Lowe Post

Shortly after the announcement of the release, Singer appeared for an interview on the Lowe Post Podcast, hosted by ESPN’s Zach Lowe. Singer talked at length about the book and the writing process.

He described his trip to Serbia, bumping into Jokic, sitting down with coaches and figures from Nikola’s youth, talking to current NBA superstars, and more. It sounds like it will be an incredible inside look at a global sports icon like never before.

Singer pointed out that most of the book focuses on Nikola’s life before coming over to the NBA and explained how he really wanted to discuss stories that were relatively unknown. It was fascinating to hear how close Jokic came to never even pursuing basketball at a professional level among other great stories.

Jokic and Nuggets have work to do

This interview is well worth a listen for any Nuggets fan or any fan who wants to know more about the now three-time league MVP. Meanwhile, Jokic and the Nuggets have their hands full currently as they trail the Timberwolves 2-1 in their second round playoff matchup.

Jokic was integral in the Nuggets game 3 victory in Minnesota as he had 24 points, 14 rebounds, 9 assists, 3 blocks, and 3 steals with a +/- of 30. This came after Jokic was named NBA MVP for the third time in four years.

The Nuggets are still facing an uphill battle, but the goal seems more achievable now. They’ll take the court for a critical game 4 in Minnesota on Sunday night where they hope to even things up and recapture homecourt advantage.

If not, the Nuggets’ season could come skidding to a halt much sooner than anyone anticipated and this book on Jokic may be the only thing fans have to look forward to for quite a while.
