Aaron Gordon didn't just pick up where he left off last season in the playoffs for the Denver Nuggets before he got hurt — he's doing even better. We're only two regular-season games into the 2025-26 season, but what he's done since last Thursday is nothing short of amazing.
Gordon is averaging 33.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.5 steals per game, shooting 68.8% from the field, 64.7% from three, and 100% from the free-throw line. Stop the count!
He dropped a career-high 50 points against the Warriors on 10-of-11 shooting from three (another career best mark), and finished with a much more modest 17 points on 5-of-11 shooting from the field (still 45.5%) against the Suns. Oh, yeah, and two of those points came about this way:

We know the sample size is very small, but if what we've seen is any indication as to how the season will go for Gordon, he could earn his first All-Star nod. At 30, in his 12th season in the league. He's only getting better.
Aaron Gordon is off to quite the start for the Nuggets
He turned into a threat from three last season, shooting 43.6% from deep on 3.4 attempts per game, a trend that has carried over to the start of this season. Adding that element to his game, on top of everything else that makes him the player he is, makes AG even more of a weapon for the Nuggets.
Gordon is a different player than he was two years ago when he helped Denver win its first-ever title. The 2021 trade that landed him with the Nuggets was already a win for Denver, but somehow, someway, Gordon continues to manage to make the trade look even better, in what seems like every game he plays in.
He's vastly underrated, which maybe has something to do with the fact that he plays on the same team as Nikola Jokić, who you can also argue is underrated in a sense. The Nuggets are a small-market team that doesn't receive the recognition they deserve, not even when they have the best player in the world. They might have the second-best player in the world now in Gordon.
Between what he did last season in the playoffs and what he's doing now to start the season, Gordon's value is rapidly rising. He's the kind of do-it-all player that you don't win a championship without.
It feels a little silly to say that Gordon is putting the league on notice, given how crucial he's been to Denver's success, but it feels like that's what's happening. If you're not on the AG hype train yet, what are you doing?
