The Nuggets “Shake It Off” Parody Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things

Of all the things you want to see the day before the NBA regular season gets underway, a cringe-inducing parody by the Nuggets of Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off” has to be at the bottom of that list.

The Nuggets organization and their social media team are known for being among the most playful in the league, often sharing behind-the-scenes content with fans that ranges from the interesting to the hilarious, but I think they took it too far with this goofy video. I’m all for seeing the players have fun off the court, but this is the kind of video that is surely going to draw a lot of laughs from players and fans of other NBA teams, and not the good kind of laughs. We’re talking the “laughing at you, not with you” kind of laughs.

I think the shot of Wilson Chandler (above) in the video pretty much sums up my reaction to this whole debacle.

Hopefully this isn’t a glimpse at what the 2014-15 season has in store. I think I speak for most fans when I say we’d much rather the Nuggets be the talk of the league for the product they put on the floor as opposed to how much fun it looks like they have producing viral videos.
