Paul Millsap will be one of the premier free agents this summer.

There are a lot of big name free agents this off season. Of all the players, though, Paul Millsap would be the best fit in Denver.

The Nuggets improved drastically this season. Denver beat Cleveland and Golden State this year, and by so doing the young Nuggets showed they can play with anyone in the NBA.

Denver’s offense is elite, but their defense was among the worst in the NBA.

Denver also struggled to close out games. The Nuggets lost ten of fifteen games decided by three points or less.

Paul Millsap is the best guy to patch up both of these problems and take Denver to the next level.

The four-time NBA All-Star can score in crunch time to close out games. Last year he was on the NBA All-Defensive Second Team. And with Gallo likely on his way out, he is the perfect replacement.

Can the Nuggets really lure Millsap to the mile-high city though?

Yes, and here is why.

First, Denver has the money. With Danilo Gallinari opting out and trying free agency, and Nikola Jokic still on a rookie contract, Denver can give Paul a max contract.

Money is not an issue, but can he win in Denver?

I have been fantasizing over a Millsap, Jokic front court for quite some time. Denver would possess two triple double threats on any given night.

Averaging 4.3 assists per game, Millsap is a perfect fit for Denver’s pass first basketball. Jokic and Millsap are both elite talents that make the players around them better.

This year, he also averaged 24.3 ppg and would likely walk in as Denver’s leading scorer. Paul  can score from just about anywhere on the court. He can shoot from deep, post up, but most importantly he can score in crunch time and close out games.

Millsap and Jokic might be the best front-court in the NBA. The rest on the team could be appealing to Millsap as well, though.

There is more talent in Denver than Atlanta, and this Nuggets team is more deep. With rising stars in Denver such as Jamal Murray, Gary Harris, and Juancho Hernangomez, this Nuggets squad is on the rise and in need of a veteran leader.
