Chauncey Billups is a prime candidate for Cleveland’s vacant GM position, but Denver should not worry.

Chauncey Billups seems to be a likely candidate to become the new GM for the Cavaliers. As a result, some Nugget fans are upset that Denver is not targeting the Colorado native for their own front office.

Well, I am here, as a huge Billups fan myself, to say that Denver fans should not worry. Even without Billups, the team is still in good hands. New president of basketball operations, Tim Connelly, has done a terrific job with this team over the past few seasons.

His name does not grab headlines instantly like Chauncey Billups’ does, but he has proven to be solid for the Nuggets so far. He was responsible for stealing Nikola Jokic in the second round and was also the architect of the trade with Chicago that landed Gary Harris. Of course, we cannot forget about selecting Jamal Murray with the seventh overall pick a year ago, a player who has an incredibly high ceiling and even Steph Curry like potential.

While it would have been nice to see Billups working for one of his former teams in the front office, Nugget fans have to deal with what they have.

And what they have happens be one of the most underrated front offices in the entire league.
