It is time for the Denver Nuggets to embrace the old school Rocky Balboa mentality.

The Denver Nuggets are never going to be as glamorous as the Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat or New York Knicks. If you cannot accept that fact, you may as well start accepting it now.

However, that does not mean Denver can’t still turn some heads. Mid market teams are still capable of being great in this league, just look no further than the San Antonio Spurs. Denver needs to start embracing the Rocky Balboa mindset.

More from Nugg Love

Think about it, if L.A. is Apollo Creed, then the one who dethrones him is a relatively unknown fighter from Philadelphia that gets criminally overlooked. The Rocky role is perfect for these Nuggets. They are continually overlooked for teams like L.A., but is time for them to fight back and show what they are made of.

It is time for this team to show the league next season that it doesn’t matter what city a team resides in, every team has the potential to be great. The Nuggets could embrace the underdog attitude and show the major teams just how fast they are growing and progressing.

They could make it clear that Denver is no longer a game that will be a “give me.” Not to mention, like Rocky, these Nuggets have had to overcome their fair share of adversity in the last couple of seasons.

This team fits the role as the Rocky Balboa of the NBA perfectly when one really thinks about it and takes a look at the team.
