Danilo Gallinari will be a free agent and it begs the question, is it time for the Nuggets and him to separate?

There is no doubt that Danilo Gallinari has had some great moments for the Denver Nuggets. Apart from injuries, he has been solid for Denver.

He was the main centerpiece the Nuggets received from the infamous Carmelo Anthony trade so many years ago now, but all good things must come to an end. Before I go any further, I am going to preface this with the fact that I like Gallo. He is one of the classiest and most loyal players on the Nuggets in my opinion.

Sadly, I believe it is time for both parties to move on. Why you ask? Well think about it. Gallinari is going to demand a max contract, which is something the Nuggets could give him. However, with how close Denver has been the last couple of years in landing a star, they would be handicapping their ability to pursue big name players if they were to do this.

Not to mention, it would become increasingly difficult to extend Nikola Jokic, Gary Harris and Jamal Murray in the future. For Gallo, this presents an opportunity to explore the market and possibly go to a contender.

He is going to get his money, but he is at the point of his career where he will be thinking about winning a ring more than anything. While Denver is growing their core well, he will not win a championship with the Nuggets any time soon.

With all of this in mind, it hurts me to say that the Nuggets need to thank Gallo for all the great moments and move on from the Italian small forward.
