Jusuf Nurkic and Denver Nuggets fans received disappointing news when the rosters for the BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge were initially released. It was a bit of a surprise to most that the rookie was left off. However, due to the recent injury to Steven Adams of the Oklahoma City Thunder, it appears Nurkic will ultimately get the honor we all know he deserves.
According to multiple sources, Jusuf Nurkic has been selected to be Adams’ replacement in the All-Star weekend event.
Nurkic will join the best first and second year international players on the World team in the event’s new USA vs World format.
The news couldn’t have come at a better time given the team’s meltdown in recent weeks. Positive news has been difficult to come by as of late, and this is just that. Being around the best talent in the league for all of the All-Star weekend festivities can do nothing but good things for the continued development of the Nuggets talented young rookie.
With the rest of the Nuggets roster in flux, and as trade rumors continue to swirl in Denver, it’s good to see the one key cog in the roster moving forward receive such an honor.
Congrats to Jusuf. Denver Nuggets fans needed this.
