NBA Trade Deadline Scenario: Denver Nuggets and New York Knicks
Well, well, well. The NBA trade deadline is approaching and it looks like these two teams are meeting up again for another blockbuster trade — at least in this imaginary scenario. The Nuggets and Knicks have had a history of making huge trade with each other back when the Nuggets traded Carmelo Anthony to New York back in 2011. There was always a huge debate as to who won that trade but currently it looks like neither team did seeing as how Denver has the 8th worst record in the NBA and New York is in the basement of the NBA with the absolute worst record. But enough about our team’s struggles because I have just the trade that will help each team get back to success!

TRADE SCENARIO (New York and Denver):
New York gets: Ty Lawson, Kenneth Faried, Arron Afflalo and Alonzo Gee
Denver gets: NY Knicks 2015 First Round Pick, Tim Hardaway Jr., Andrea Bargnani, Jose Calderon, Jason Smith and Quincy Acy
Trade Machine Trade (Denver-New York)
This trade may not sound fair to either teams’ fans at first, but hear me out.
Why this trade would make sense for New York is that it would give them an immediate future like all big market teams want and would also give them dependable assets who are signed long-term, which would lure in bigger names come free agency. Even if the Knicks don’t sign anyone this off season they will still have three big names in Carmelo Anthony, Ty Lawson and Kenneth Faried who are all signed through 2017 at least. That combination would be great for any team; especially New York where big names bring in big money. Even if the those three don’t win in New York, the Knicks management would still be making money in the end, and that’s all you can ask for in the business that is the NBA.
Typical Nuggets Fan: “WHY IN THE WORLD ARE WE GIVING AWAY OUR THREE BEST PLAYERS FOR A PICK AND TIM HARDAWAY JR.?!!!”
Well here’s my answer. Those three best players alone aren’t helping bring any championships or even playoffs to Denver. Getting rid of them wouldn’t be the end of the world because they aren’t winning anyways (and Arron Afflalo is on his way out to free agency anyway this summer). I know Denver fans wouldn’t like this trade one bit because they would arguably be the worst team in the NBA afterwards, but you have to look at the big picture. The Knicks 2015 First Round Pick plus the all of the Nuggets have stashed away would give them a sense of direction. It may be a rebuilding direction but it’s better than the non-existent direction they currently have.
Nurkic, Hardaway Jr. and a plethora of Future First Round Picks isn’t a bad way to start building a championship contending team. At least that team would give more hope of bringing a title to Denver than the current 20-33 team.
