In the wake of the reported firing of Brian Shaw as Denver Nuggets Head Coach, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports is reporting now that Assistant Coach Melvin Hunt will replace Shaw as the Nuggets Interim Head Coach.:

Hunt hails from Tallulah, Louisiana, and he played college basketball at Baylor University, where he was a three-year starter. He got his start in the NBA working as a video coordinator/scout for the Houston Rockets, before being named a college/international scout. After serving as an assistant coach with the L.A. Lakers for one season, Hunt joined Cleveland’s staff where, according to his bio, he “helped lead the Cavaliers to one of the most successful stretches in franchise history.” This season marks Hunt’s fifth year with the Nuggets, and he has been extremely active in the NBA’s Basketball Without Borders program over the course of his coaching career.

Hunt survived the firing of George Karl and is the only coach on the Nuggets staff that coached with both Shaw and Karl for the Nuggets.  He has been with the team since 2008 and has risen to top assistant under Shaw.  Hunt will coach his first game as interim head coach tonight when the Nuggets take on the Bucks in Milwaukee.
