How Nuggets Teammates Should Help Mudiay Grow

Chris Dempsey of the Denver Post reported this morning that Mike Miller is taking Emmanuel Mudiay under his wing to help him work on his deep ball.

That makes sense. Miller is a pretty good shooter. Mudiay, not so much.

While this Nuggets team is very young, there are plenty of veterans to show the future star a thing or two about life in the NBA. Sure, they will help him get his game right on the court, but adjusting to life as a professional athlete goes so far beyond that.

So, we compiled a list of other characteristics this Nugget’s roster has to give Mudiay the extra push he needs to reach his full potential.

Danilo Gallinari – Italian Lessons

Ladies love the Italian vernacular. It’s one of the romance languages, after all. If Mudiay wants to find himself a nice lady, he could use a few silky smooth pickup lines like, “Io sono un giocatore di basket professionista”. Gets ‘em every time, or so I hear.

Also, Kobe speaks Italian. From what I hear, somebody might need to take over the “Vino” persona after he hangs them up.

Wilson Chandler – A History of the Arts

Mudiay is going to need to step his game up here in Denver where the art scene is happening. Whether he goes apartment, condo, or single family home, he’s got to cruise around the Santa Fe art walk to get his place looking proper.

The world of art can be a little tough to handle for your average person. Somebody, like myself, may mistake a masterpiece for the work of a five year old. Honest mistake.

Who better to advise the rookie than Wilson Chandler? I would think the man with the most artwork on his body would get the young kid hooked up with a nice piece to go over his fireplace.

Joffrey Lauvergne – The Art of Impersonation

King Joffrey gets plenty of steals on the court, but his biggest steal of all came off of it when he nabbed Miles Plumlee’s look:

Mudiay is most likely already feeling the suffocation of the paparazzi and soon enough, he will be craving a little privacy on his nightly run to Pinkberry. Using Lauvergne’s hidden talent, he can go unrecognized. Although, I might recommend he picks a non-famous person instead of another professional athlete.

Darrell Arthur – Getting the Mind off the Game

The grind of an NBA season can take a toll on a man. Sometimes the best thing to do is get away from it all. Darrell Arthur is the best at that on the Nuggets.

In an interview with Nate Timmons of SB Nation in 2013, Arthur explains all the things he is into around Denver. This includes things like fishing, eating some crab, watching the hunger games, playing Call of Duty, and listening to Lana Del Ray.

I’m sure a couple hours of bromance with DA will get the mind right and rejuvenated.

Kenneth Faried – Personal Hygiene

In one of the sweatiest professions, Mudiay has no choice but to turn to the sweatiest man for some advice on how to stay fresh. Kenneth Faried plays harder than anybody else on the court. You can tell by the drenched jersey and dripping dreadlocks he rocks after every game.

However, I saw Kenneth Faried at Target and he was immaculate. Whatever moisturizers and hair product he uses are working.

Mudiay has plenty of red carpet events ahead of him, but at only 19, he still needs to worry about keeping his acne under control and dandruff from taking over. Handling his personal hygiene must be a priority.

Randy Foye – Becoming Unique

Just getting to the NBA makes you one in a million. Randy Foye is one in a million plus ten thousand. He has a unique condition called Situs Inversus where his organs mirror those of your everyday person. His heart is on the right side, liver on the left.

In a less genetic manner, Mudiay needs to figure out what makes him unique.

His play on the court will likely determine the ceiling for the Nuggets over the next few years. Figuring out how to succeed against point guards around the league will take him optimizing his unique skill set.

Off the court, he can chose his style. Some go with an outrageous fashion sense, some get really feisty with the media, and others enjoy the nightlife scene a little too much.

Personally, I want him to stay out of the limelight as much as possible and focus on his game. In this day and age, that is as unique as they come.

At 19, I was learning how to make cup o’ noodles and trying not to turn all my white clothes pink. Emmanuel Mudiay has a whole different challenge ahead of him, but luckily his teammates are right beside him to support his growth.
