Nuggets First Pick at #7: Jamal Murray, PG, Kentucky

We said we needed shooting, and heck; we got it.  Jamal holds the record for second most threes by a Division 1 Freshman (and Kentucky players don’t play longer than that anyway).  Only person ahead of him?  Steph Curry.  Heard of him?

So first look, I think to myself, “Way to go, Tim! Snatched one of those Kentucky freshmen that Calipari have NBA primed out of high school.  Here I figured we would snatch the first foreigner available.  Not this time!”  I proceed to look into who exactly is our new hot hand and spit my coffee out (wasn’t even drinking any).

A Canadian?  Tim, you sly dog.  You got your foreigner in after all.  Ever since the emergence of Drake, Canadians have slowly been making their way across the border south into American pop culture.  Appears yet another has managed to trojan his way into our midst.  At least I will have one more team to watch and (passively) cheer for this summer as Jamal Murray will be representing on the Canadian team during the Rio Olympics.  Here is rooting for a Canadian silver, Jamal!

Beyond that, we discover his favorite movie is Shark Tale…like the Will Smith voice over adventure?  Yeah – that one.  Pick a more Canadian response to “What is your favorite movie?’ than Shark Tale..you can’t.  Hopefully this doesn’t reflect his mental toughness.  Personally, I would have preferred hearing The Town or Belly or Paid In Full..but..he is Canadian.  Time will tell, readers.
