The Denver Nuggets have finally signed back Mike Miller to their roster. What will this addition mean to their current roster?
The Denver Nuggets resigned Mike Miller to what is reportedly a 2-year deal.
Miller, who averaged only 1.3 points per game last year in 7.9 minutes per game, could see these already depleted numbers dwindle down even lower as the Nuggets are stock full of shooting guards. But, Miller even making the making could mean the world for some other Nuggets.
This signing could put Denver into a difficult dilemma. Obviously Denver has Mudiay, Harris, Jokic, Nurkic, Murray, Beasley, Nelson, Faried, Arthur, Gallinari, Chandler, Barton, and now Miller. If you count that up, that is 13 players that will be on the roster this coming fall.

Therefore, who will round out the rest of the roster? Juancho Hernangomez, Axel Toupane, JaKarr Sampson, and Joffrey Lauvergne are the candidates that could obtain a spot on the roster. Harrison Wind of BSN Denver does a terrific breakdown on how the Nuggets should handle the future of Hernangomez which you can read here.
Harrison says this concerning Juancho’s future.
"The Nuggets have to determine if Hernangomez playing less than five minutes every couple of games, or more than 25 minutes per game in Europe better for his development. He would get more experience abroad and would spend more time on the court, but there’s also something to be said for players being around their teammates in some capacity whether they’re playing or not."
With Juancho most likely going overseas, it is down to three. If the Nuggets were to keep both Sampson and Toupane, it would stack their small forward position with four players while their center only has two. Therefore, the next one to address it Joffrey, and it is good news for him.
Joffrey will most likely make the Nuggets team behind Jokic and Nurkic. Well, with one of those two spots taken care of, it seems that this last spot will come down to JaKarr Sampson or Axel Toupane.
Toupane, who averaged 7.4 points per game in 24.2 minutes per game with the Nuggets Summer League team, was definitely the more reliable force for Summer League Coach, Micah Nori. Toupane started four out of the five Nugget Summer League games.
Axel also delivered this killer crossover, but he sadly could not finish at the rim.
Also, in limited minutes, Sampson proved why he should be that man. He averaged 6.3 points per game in just over 13 minutes of action.
Toupane seems to be the clear front runner for this position, but it is still up grabs as the two will head into training camp with their last chance to prove that they belong.
This will be one of the most alluring stories come training camp, and we will be following this story to see which 23-year-old will round out the Nuggets roster.
