Denver is one of the worst defensive team in the NBA, so Tim Connelly should study the blue print that John Elway has molded with the Broncos.

The Denver Nuggets are a polar opposite of the Denver Broncos and Tim Connelly should take note of this. A great offensive team with a terrible defense.

Outside of Gary Harris and occasionally Wilson Chandler, no one on the Nuggets is a great defender. With that in mind, Nuggets GM Tim Connelly would be smart to reach out to John Elway for advice and/or study the way he has constructed the Broncos.

Think about it. Elway constructed one of the best defenses ever assembled and it resulted in a third Super Bowl for the franchise a couple years ago. That was with a below average offense being commanded by an aging Peyton Manning.

If Connelly takes a page out of Elway’s playbook in terms of building a defensive unit, then the Nuggets could rise back to the ranks of the NBA’s elite teams. Suddenly, they would no longer be the Enver Nuggets, ( The D was omitted on purpose, you will get it eventually if you haven’t yet).

John Elway is a genius and there is a reason he is so highly regarded in the Mile High. He resurrected the Denver Broncos and made them go from the laughing stock of the NFL to eventual Super Bowl Champion. Tim Connelly would be smart to welcome any advice Elway may have when it comes to building an elite team.

The Nuggets already have plenty of offensive firepower with a mix of veterans. Now is the time to target some elite defenders who would fit well in the Nuggets’ lineup. They do not even need a defensive player who is a star, although that would help. But, someone like a James Johnson, Jrue Holiday or a player with a mindset like Patrick Beverly would be a welcome addition to Denver.

Elway has proven he knows how to build not just a defense, but a great team in general. Therefore, Connelly should take some notes from him.
