Jokic is a candidate for assist of the year and he deserves to win it.
This year, Nikola Jokic will be a part of the first ever NBA Awards. He is a nominee for assist of the year and if one takes a look at his competition, it is not even close.
While the other nominees’ assists are impressive, they are no where near as impressive as the pass the Joker conducted against the Indiana Pacers.
He threw a beautiful no look, over the head pass to Wilson Chandler which led to an easy basket at the rim. I mean, the man may as well be Steve Nash in a center’s body if we are being completely honest.

He did this on multiple occasions this year actually and anyone who paid close attention to the Nuggets this season would know this. However, this is the assist that is nominated and it is still a beauty to watch. Nikola Jokic has finally put the Nuggets back on the map and he can really give them some exposure if he wins assist of the year. With the Nuggets needing to get more exposure in the NBA landscape, Jokic winning this award could signal a new era of basketball in the Mile High.
Plus, let’s be honest. After that heart wrenching end to the season, it would be nice to see some positivity come from our team with our best player winning assist of the year. Whether that happens or not, we will have to wait to find out.
