The Denver Nuggets need to play like they have something to prove next season.
The Denver Nuggets showed a few flashes of brilliance this season. Sadly, it still wasn’t enough to get them to the post season in the end. One aspect that I feel got overlooked this year was their lack of urgency at times.
There were times where it seemed like Denver said they wanted a playoff spot, but didn’t show enough fight for it. What does this mean? It means that the Nuggets need to learn from the other sports team in the Mile High, the Denver Broncos. Say what you will about the Bronco’s last season, but they always play like they have something to prove even when they are defending champs. Even when they are on top, they are trying their best to silence critics.

The Denver Nuggets did not seem like they were interested in playing with this proverbial chip on their shoulders at times this season. Next season, that must be rectified. Guys like Chris Harris Jr., T.J. Ward and Aqib Talib bring that perfect mindset for proving “haters,” wrong for the Denver Broncos. The Nuggets need a player or two to step up and develop this same type of mindset.
If the Nuggets can start playing with a chip on their shoulders, then expect a very different result come next season. Suddenly, the Nuggets will become a team that will be taken seriously and not overlooked by other teams in both conferences.
The key is developing the same mindset that the Denver Broncos possess though. They must play with that chip on their shoulder first before they can start thinking about the playoffs.
