The first young prospect that is an “honorable mention” is Malik Beasley.

Now what I mean by the “honorable mention” is that if the Nuggets can hold onto them, they should. However, if a great deal comes along and they have to throw them in to get a star, so be it. The first of this type of player is Malik Beasley, a player who I have been a fan of ever since he came to the Mile High City.

He didn’t get too many minutes in his rookie season, but in the minutes that he got he proved he can play. Malik has a great work ethic, a good physical aspect to the game, and could be a good player in the future. He’s also a high-flyer, with potential to throw it down on any play (as he showed on Ivica Zubac of the Lakers last season).

If there is a deal that the Nuggets can just not pass up, then it wouldn’t be the worst idea to trade him. Until that deal happens, however, the Nuggets should try to keep him in Denver. I expect him to get some playing time in his second season with the Nuggets.

The second player of this type is Juancho Hernangomez.

I like Juancho Hernangomez also, as he really turned my head is his rookie season. I didn’t expect a

whole lot from him, but he really proved me and a lot of others wrong with his shooting. Who would have thought that he would have the sweetest stroke on the team by the end of the season from three?

I mean, the stats say it all, he shot over 40 percent from three last season (per basketball-reference). Hernangomez could come in and be a dark-horse starter next season, and the Nuggets should hang onto him.

In a game against the champion Golden State Warriors, Juancho had six threes and thirty points. These were good enough to lead both teams in these stats for the game. If he can do this consistently, he could be fun to watch in the future.
