The Denver Broncos helped play a part in the Denver Nuggets’ pitch to land All-Star Paul Millsap in NBA free agency.
Every avid Denver Nuggets fan knows about the big headline by now. Paul Millsap will officially be a Nugget. It was a time period filled with excitement, nervousness and anticipation. Finally, it happened.
The pitch to Millsap did not happen in typical fashion, though. Tim Connelly and Denver pulled out all of the stops to recruit the All-Star power forward. They even got his old school teachers in on the pitch (yes, you read that right.)
However, the big storyline was the Denver Broncos getting involved. Particularly, linebacker Brandon Marshall. From what it sounds like, Marshall played a vital role in Millsap’s recruitment. This is a good sign since Marshall is one of the Broncos’ best players.

What can one learn from this, though? How about the fact that other pro teams can assist other pro teams from their city. This was a perfect example. The Broncos do not have near the amount of difficulty signing big name free agents like the other Denver teams, so they lent a helping hand. In the end, it paid off. And along with the Nuggets’ strong interest in Millsap for some time now, partnered with a good three-year, $90 million contract and the attraction of their young talent and the play of Nikola Jokic, free agency worked out awfully well.
In conclusion, thank you to Marshall and the Broncos for helping us get Paul Millsap.
