The Denver Nuggets have a decision to make by Wednesday and that’ll be whether to retain the

contract of Mike Miller or waive the veteran guard. Miller is set to make $3.5 million on Wednesday which will make his final year of his contract guaranteed. If Miller is waived it’ll clear up some salary cap that the team can use in the Paul Millsap deal or if they want to pursue another free agent.

Miller has spent the last two seasons with the Nuggets after winning two NBA championships with the Miami Heat in 2012 and 2013. Miller only played in 20 games this past season and averaged just 7 minutes per game. Miller’s biggest contribution is mostly off the court where he has a history of being a great teammate and locker room guy.

Miller is often the first guy off the bench to high five guys during timeouts and has been great with helping the Nuggets young players. Nuggets insider for Altitude sports Chris Dempsey recently caught up with Mike Miller where Miller discussed whether or not he wanted to continue playing.

"“I feel great, My body feels good,” he said. “It’s kind of one of those things that as long as I can keep helping these guys and they still want me around.”"

Denver should seriously consider bringing back Miller even if he doesn’t get much time on the court. The certain leadership he brings is so important for such a young team and the relationship he has with Nikola Jokic is one Denver should want to keep afloat. If for some reason the Nuggets don’t want to pick up Miler’s option they could possibly waive him and then sign him to another deal that works best for the team and for him.

Next: Faried for Crowder?

It sounds like Miller wants to continue playing, but whenever Miller does stop playing I’m sure there will be a coaching job or even a front office job available for him somewhere. It’ll be interesting to see what the Nuggets do considering there’s a few different ways this situation could go. Make sure to stay tuned to Nugg Love as there will be a conclusion to the situation by Wednesday.
