The Denver Nuggets are expected by almost every basketball expert to be a playoff team next year, which leads to the question of high of a seed can they obtain?

I would be lying if I told you I am not looking forward to watching my Denver Nuggets next season. With the addition of a star in Paul Millsap to couple with Nikola Jokic, the Nuggets have went from being a fringe playoff team to being a team most expect to easily sit at the five or sixth seed in the west.

This leads one to ask the question of how high the Nuggets can go in the Western Conference next year. Obviously, if they do get Kyrie Irving, they will get better, but right now, I am just looking at the current construction of the roster.

With teams like the Jazz, Clippers and the Grizzlies getting worse this off season, the window of opportunity is wide open for Denver and other up and coming teams. Sure, they may shock people and somehow obtain the fourth seed securing their status among the ranks of the top dogs in the west with Golden State, San Antonio and Houston. They could also disappoint everyone’s expectations and barely squeak into the post season with the eighth seed.

With teams like the Timberwolves, Thunder and even the Pelicans vastly improving as well, I would say the Nuggets are currently a sixth seed in the Western Conference. Obviously, they have upgraded from last year, but with so many stars from the Eastern Conference coming to the Western Conference this off season, the playoff race is going to be hectic next year.

However, Denver’s elite front court lineup of Nikola Jokic and Paul Millsap will still make them formidable enough to secure a solid playoff spot.

There is always other factors to consider like key injuries and trades, but right now, Denver seems to be the sixth team in the west and that is nothing to be ashamed of going forward into the next season.
