The Denver Nuggets have had one of their most interesting off seasons in franchise history and it is time to grade how they have done so far this summer.

By now, every avid Denver Nuggets fan knows about the splash made in free agency by Denver which was landing Paul Millsap. However, I am going to pump the brakes a bit before I go ahead and just hand out an A+ for what they have done so far this off season.

Why not? Well, I am glad you asked. Remember the draft? I know, you probably wiped it from your memory and for good reason. Denver had probably it’s most questionable draft ever since Tim Connelly came to the franchise as they traded their 13th pick for Trey Lyles from Utah and drafted Tyler Lydon from Syracuse. Lydon did not play well in Summer League action, but let’s keep our fingers crossed.

On top of this, the Nuggets did not address their glaring weak point in the draft which was defense. Eventually, they made up for this by getting an All Star in Paul Millsap who is a good rim protector and will bring some star power to the Mile High. The problem now though is the roster is too cluttered.

The Nuggets still need to offload some assets and shed some salary in order to free things up for the upcoming season. With the additions of Lyles, Lydon and Millsap, the power forward spot is much too crowded.

However, one cannot deny landing Millsap was a huge win in of itself, especially with the deal we gave him which included a team option on his third year of his contract. Now, Denver is suddenly an attractive destination for up and coming free agents.

With the draft and how badly it went coupled with still needing to ship off some assets and landing a quality free agent, I give the Nuggets a B+ so far this off season.
